The Hawke's Bay employment expo Pick the Bay was held on Tuesday afternoon at Toitoi in Hastings. Despite a record amount of rain earlier in the day causing flooding and slips in the Napier area, upwards of 1,000 people attended, creating a busy atmosphere.
Summerfruit NZ's Richard Mills flew the Handpicked banner for the summerfruit industry, and over the two-hour event answered attendees' questions and gave out flyers directing people to the Work the Seasons website.
Reporting back the following morning, Richard said the expo had been jumping and that it was difficult to move around at times with so many people checking out the stands and opportunities on offer.
Hawke's Bay-based summerfruit growers and packhouses are encouraged to list their vacancies on the free Work the Seasons website to make sure their jobs get seen by those following up on the information Richard provided at Pick the Bay.
