Our congratulations to Jono Sutton of Nelson, winner the 2019 Young Grower Competition. It was great to see summerfruit grower Ellen Watt, Waitaki Orchards, make it through to the final and give Jono a run for his money.
The competition has grown from strength to strength. While there can only be one winner the others were strong candidates. Hopefully we will see some of those young people back again next year, plus a whole new crop of competitors.
We look forward to this fantastic competition continuing. In support of this Summerfruit NZ has just increased our sponsorship of the Hawkes Bay and Otago regional competitions to $6,000 for next year’s competitions.
