Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment have changed the Compliance Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS) tariff codes from 8 to 10 digits (changes underlined).
Please ensure your importer is using the 10 digit tariff code and other necessary information summarised in the table below, in order to remain eligible for CBIS.

To qualify for risk-based inspection under the CBIS, your importers will need to:
- import under the appropriate tariff (see table)
- lodge the entry in line mode to qualify for reduced inspection
- lodge the entry with the correct AQIS Commodity Code (see table), which brokers will need to enter with consignments
- meet import conditions
- meet the requirements for repeated compliance (see table). Reduced inspection is per importer not exporter
- be aware that OPI cleared product is not eligible for CBIS.
Summerfruit NZ will be contacting exporters at the end of the season to discuss how the CBIS scheme went and any issues experienced. In the meantime, if you have any queries please email Cressida Patrick.
