Growers’ Field Walk On Establishing FOPS Canopies

Picture 9Jack Wilson, an agricultural consultant from AgFirst, will be presenting results from an economic evaluation of Future Orchard Production Systems (FOPS) performance compared to other growing systems. There will also be a visit to Stephen Darling’s young FOPS apricot block.

This field walk is open to anyone interested, particularly those who are growing summerfruit in 2D systems or are thinking of trying them out. We will also discuss similarities and differences between establishing cherry and apricot FOPS canopies.

This field walk is part of the Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures programme, “Future orchard planting systems: to double productivity, improve environmental outcomes and transform labour practices."

Food and refreshments will be provided afterwards.
