The launch of a new tool for summerfruit growers may help orchardists spend a little less time in the office. Growers have been asking for a climate summary tool that they can access in the orchard, packhouse and workshop as well as at their desk.
Today we are pleased to announce the launch of the new summerfruit weather and disease portal with a mobile-friendly interface that is easy for members to access on any device. Everything from the current portal's climate summary tool is still available, but offer new features.
Key features include:
- five day forecast available on all pest and disease models and weather tools
- updated design, dashboard navigation, and interactive graphs
- fully mobile friendly interface designed to be used in the field with important info at the top.
New improvements include:
Easy to read graphs – updated weather and disease graphs are easy to read and provide more detailed information and can be read in the orchard on mobile phones and devices.
Extended forecast – the two and a half day hourly forecast has been extended out to five days, providing a further look forward for planning sprays and orchard management events.
New tools and forecasts – now available in one place and include a national weather outlook, ground frost forecast, severe weather warnings, montly weather and temperature/rainfall seasonal comparison.

Where is it?
To access the weather and disease tool, members simply login to the Summerfruit NZ portal here and look for the rectangle leaf button on the right above the dashboard. Start off by setting up your default weather location and take a look at what the tool offers.
