Stream Health Assessments in Central Otago

Do you want to know about the health of your stream? A Catchment Advisor at Otago Regional Council is available to help you understand the health of your stream. This can assist you in making decisions about the use of a stream, e.g. whether it is safe to swim or fish there, or whether a change in management is needed to improve stream condition.

Stream health is the condition (or state) of the whole stream ecosystem, including water quality, physical features of the stream and its banks, and the plants and animals living there. It also includes aspects that affect human health, safety and enjoyment.

If you are interested in having a stream health assessment done on your property, get in contact with your local Catchment Advisor, Paula Macfie (Paula.Macfie@orc.govt.nz), to arrange a site visit.
