Central Otago seasonal labour coordinator, Tracey Mansfield, is asking local growers for information to assist with planning the region's labour requirements over the next year.
As the summerfruit season draws to a close, and with little down time, we know growers are busy planning their winter pruning, thinning and the 2021-22 harvest.
We also know that next season is looking to be even tougher, with the likelihood of backpacker numbers down and borders remaining closed. For Summerfruit NZ to assist with the region's labour requirements over the next year, we need accurate data on its labour force and the various cohorts that got us through this past season.
To get planning underway we need to fully understand your workplace statistics. The information and data you provide will help us attract particular cohorts to the region throughout the year, create retention strategies and provide information on the pastoral care needs of employees.
Please take a few minutes over the holiday break to complete this survey. Note that we fully appreciate that the information you provide is confidential, so please be assured that it will be treated in the strictest confidence and in accordance with the rules of the Privacy Act 2020.
