Summerfruit NZ welcomes the news that New Zealand has secured a major free trade deal with the European Union (EU). While traded volumes of apricots and cherries into the EU are low (17 tonnes of apricots and 1 tonne of cherries in 2020/21), the removal of tariffs on stone fruit will make this market more accessible to our exporters, particularly when the Covid-related disruption to airfreight settles back into a new normal.
