It’s been two weeks since Cyclone Gabrielle wreaked havoc in Hawke’s Bay, Gisborne and many other regions in the North Island. Summerfruit NZ is supporting our impacted growers in any way we can, and we are working very closely with HortNZ, NZAPI and the other product groups on cyclone recovery issues. Richard Mills, Summerfruit NZ’s technical advisor, is based in Hastings and has given his first-hand account of the cyclone in the following article. For all up-to-date information for growers impacted by this event, please continue to refer to Hort NZ’s website - link below.
Many of you have been asking how to support impacted growers and where to make donations. Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers’ Association Charitable Trust has set up a relief fund specifically for growers – any support will be very much appreciated, click on the link below to donate.
