In all the changes and proposals announced by the Government before Christmas, a bill was passed that automatically extends all existing and expired resource consents until 31 December 2027.
This is particularly good news for Hawke’s Bay growers who have expired/expiring water permits affected by the TANK Plan Change. Water use will still need to comply with the conditions of the expired/expiring consent, but growers now have more certainty about the volume of water that they will have for the next two years.
The extensions happen automatically. Over the next month or so, growers will receive correspondence from the regional council confirming the new expiry date/s as being 31 December 2027.
