While the summerfruit harvest is starting to wind down for the season, other fruit crops are about to face the staff challenges we experienced earlier on, and many orchards and vineyards are looking for the staff that you may be about to farewell. Central Otago Seasonal Coordinator, Tracey Mansfield, may be able to assist with matching staff with upcoming vacancies.
A few weeks ago we advised that if you have any seasonal staff, who have worked for your company for six weeks or more, they may be eligible for the New Zealand Seasonal Work Scheme. If you no longer require eligible staff members who are keen to move on to other seasonal horticulture or viticulture work there may be MSD support available for them.
The Seasonal Work Scheme is made up of three types of support:
- Support for your seasonal horticulture or viticulture work.
- Accommodation and travel cost payments.
- Incentive payment.
