The Plant Germplasm Import Council (PGIC) has launched a strategy to improve the efficiency and operation of the plant material import pathway. The vision of the strategy is to ensure efficient and safe access to the imported plant germplasm that New Zealand wants, providing a roadmap for joint industry and government action.
Full details of the strategy are available on the MPI website.
The Plant Germplasm Import Council is an industry/government forum to facilitate efficient and safe access to new plant genetic material and was formed in late 2020.
