The last SummerGreen meeting in Hawke’s Bay had a focus on foliar fertilizers and bio-stimulants, a presentation on the upcoming commodity levy order and a 101-level presentation on reading a soil test.
Martin Taylor is well regarded in Hawke’s Bay for his depth of knowledge and passion for the tree fruit industry. He is presently working for Horticentre, has previously owned a Top Fruit consulting company and worked for MAF back in the day. Hence the focus on MAF units but the explanation is equally valid for the other units of measure.
By having some understanding of what the soil test reports are saying you will be able to have a meaningful discussion with your rep over what is required for a productive well-balanced soil.
This presentation may be a good tool to improve the knowledge of staff over a wet lunch time or training day.
