Central Otago growers with an interest in commercialising their waste fruit are invited to attend the following presentation.
In 2021, Central Otago District Council commissioned Understanding Fruit Loss in Central Otago. This research found that 6,000 tons of Central Otago-grown fruit does not end up being consumed. The research brought together parties interested in exploring commercial options for this fruit.
Work to support the commercialisation of fruit loss is now at a stage where it is ready to be shared.
Presentation of findings and next steps event:
Otago University, Plant and Food, and Appetite for Change will each present their respective findings, followed by a light lunch and discussion of commercial options that parties may wish to collaborate on.
This event will be held between 10:30-12:30pm on 27 October in Alexandra.
If you would like to attend the event, please RSVP to nick.lanham@codc.govt.nz for catering purposes. The event is open to anyone to attend so please feel free to circulate this email to others you know who might be interested.
