With the harvest season underway, I wish you all the best during this busy time. Please don’t hesitate to contact Summerfruit NZ, by phone or email, if there is any support you need from us during the summer. Staff information can be found here.
The uncertainty of Covid-19 and the new traffic-light system has generated a lot of questions relating to which protocol should be followed in packhouses and on orchard.
HortNZ has pulled together some advice from all the different advice available from Government departments. To stay up to date, can I suggest that you keep an eye on HortNZ’s website.
Where to reach wellbeing support
As the busy harvest season has now arrived, please keep yourselves safe and well. If you or anyone around you needs support, reach out to family, colleagues, support organisations such as Farmstrong or the rural support trusts, or Summerfruit NZ.
An online session held in September with Sir John Kirwan and Dr Fiona Crichton on how to support horticultural staff and colleagues with their mental wellbeing, organised by New Zealand Apples & Pears, is available to summerfruit growers. Click here to watch it.
